2. Information We Collect
Account information
When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash). We also store the date and time you accepted our Terms of Service.
Children's information
When you add a child profile, we collect the child's first name, date of birth, school district, gender (optional), and interests (optional). This information is provided by you as the parent or guardian and is used solely to personalize camp recommendations and help you plan your family's summer schedule.
We do not collect children's email addresses, phone numbers, or any contact information for children.
Usage information
We collect information about how you use the Service, including pages visited, camps viewed, sessions saved, and features used. This helps us improve the platform.
Device and technical information
We automatically collect your IP address, browser type, device type, and operating system when you use the Service. This is standard for all web services and is used for security and analytics.
Guest usage
If you use the Service without creating an account, we store your saved sessions and children's information locally in your browser using localStorage. This data never leaves your device until you create an account, at which point it is transferred to our servers with your consent.
3. COPPA — Children's Privacy
Sorted Summer takes children's privacy seriously and fully complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
- No direct collection from children. Children under 13 do not create accounts or directly interact with our Service. All child information is provided by parents or guardians.
- Parental consent. By creating an account and adding a child profile, you as the parent or guardian consent to the collection and use of your child's information as described in this policy.
- Limited data. We collect only the minimum information needed to provide the Service — name, date of birth, school district, and optional interests.
- No advertising. We do not use children's information for advertising purposes or share it with advertising networks.
- Parental rights. You may review, update, or delete your child's information at any time through the Family section of your account or by contacting us at privacy@sortedsummer.com.
- No sale of children's data. We never sell children's personal information to any third party under any circumstances.
If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13 without parental consent, please contact us immediately at privacy@sortedsummer.com and we will delete it promptly.
